The Wade Smith Foundation is the brainchild of Wade Smith, an NFL veteran and Pro Bowler hailing from Dallas, Texas. Wade's journey began with a BA in Finance from the University of Memphis, followed by his draft by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He later joined the Houston Texans in 2010, where he started 64 games and achieved a remarkable milestone in 2011 by becoming the only offensive lineman in team history to score a touchdown. In that same year, Wade established the Wade Smith FoundationTM with a deep commitment to giving back to the communities that played a crucial role in his success.
The foundation operates with a clear mission: to facilitate the growth of today's youth by providing them with the necessary tools to enhance their overall development as young adults, with a particular focus on literacy and educational programs.
At the core of our foundation are three fundamental objectives:
Childhood Literacy and Education through "Reading With the ProsTM" Literacy Events: Our flagship program, RWTP, is designed to inspire and support childhood literacy and education. It brings the excitement of celebrity book readings and classroom visits, igniting a passion for learning among young minds.
Annual Scholarship Program, "Smitty's ScholarsTM": We believe in making college dreams a reality. Our annual scholarship program extends financial support to college-bound seniors in Dallas and Houston, helping them pursue higher education.
Youth Football and Cheer Clinics: We understand the power of sports in shaping character. Through our youth football and cheer clinics, led by current and former NFL players, college athletes, and cheerleading coaches, we aim to foster growth, teamwork, and discipline among children in the Houston and Dallas, TX, areas.
